About Armed Forces Medical Services:

The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) is responsible for providing medical services to the armed forces in India. Recruitment into AFMS is typically conducted through the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune. Here are some key points about AFMS recruitment:

1.     Courses Offered: AFMC conducts undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine for Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force candidates. The undergraduate course leads to an MBBS degree, and postgraduate courses include various specialties.

2.     Entry Points: Recruitment into AFMS for MBBS is through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate admissions. For postgraduate courses, it's through NEET-PG.

3.     Selection Process: Candidates who qualify through NEET are eligible to apply to AFMC. The selection process includes a written test, interview, and medical examination conducted by AFMC.

4.     Eligibility: Eligibility criteria include age limits, educational qualifications (like NEET score), and physical fitness standards as per the requirements of the armed forces.

5.     Commission: Successful candidates are granted Short Service Commission (SSC) or Permanent Commission (PC) depending on their service requirements and career aspirations.

6.     Service Obligations: Officers commissioned into AFMS are expected to serve a mandatory tenure with the armed forces. This can vary depending on the type of commission (SSC or PC) and the specific service requirements.

7.     Career Progression: AFMS offers opportunities for career advancement, professional development, and specialized training in various medical fields.

8.     Application Process: Detailed information about AFMS recruitment, including application procedures, eligibility criteria, and important dates, is usually available on the official website of AFMC and through notifications in leading newspapers and employment news.
